Mount Ijen Sunrise Hike

From $150

Final price confirmed with your manager

The journey begins in the evening with a drive to Gilimanuk Port, a ferry crossing to Java, and a transfer to the Paltuding trailhead. After a safety briefing, you hike at night to the authorised viewpoint area on the crater rim. At sunrise, clear weather reveals the turquoise acidic lake, sulfur slopes, and volcanic landscape; along the way, you may see sulfur miners at work. Blue fire is a natural phenomenon and can be viewed only when conditions and the officially permitted route allow. After descending, the group returns to Bali by the same route. The manager will confirm the exact meeting points and times before departure.

  • The night hike requires at least moderate fitness and takes place in cold, dark conditions near sulfur fumes
  • Guests with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions, pregnancy, or other medical restrictions should consult a doctor and inform the manager in advance
  • The trip includes overnight travel with little proper sleep; the respirator and flashlight must be returned to the guide after the hike
